INTRODUCTION TO XCL World Academy XCL World Academy (XWA) is a private, international school in Singapore that offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme for students aged 2 to 18.

Nursery (Ages 2-3).
Early Years (Ages 3-6), following the International Baccalaureate (IB PYP) for early years.
Primary Years (Ages 6-11), following the International Baccalaureate (IB PYP) for primary years.
Middle School (Ages 11-16), following the IB MYP (Middle Years Programme).
High School (Ages 16-18). The school offers both the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and the IB Career-related Programme (CP). Additionally, all students have the opportunity to earn an XCL World Academy High School Diploma regardless of the academic pathway chosen.

Extra Languages: Chinese. XCL World Academy offers a bilingual program where the percentage of Mandarin and English used in lessons is approximately equal.

I find GEMS to be very edgy technologically speaking and very mindful of each kid’s needs. The curriculum standard is not the highest but they make sure everything that is learned has really stuck. The student support (emotionally) is one of the best I have experienced all over the world.

Very nice school and quite new so everything is clean and fresh, it is not quite 4 years old.
Friendly and relaxed and overall well-behaved students that are happy.
The reception staff and the parent liaison are both helpful and knowledgeable and friendly.
Would recommend more for the younger years, happy parents and students, quite a wide range of eca’s as well.
Not much homework up to high school, so a huge adjustment for kids when they reach the higher grades and a big jump in work from grade 5 to 6 and 6 to 7. This may improve now with a new head of school and feedback over the last few years.
Won’t be challenging enough for some, when compared to other schools in Singapore.
Wouldn’t recommend it if looking for learning support.
My son was probably very happy here as he didn’t have a lot of homework or pressure put on him, it was quite relaxed.
He started when it first opened and he recently left as we changed countries.
