INTRODUCTION TO German School Kuala Lumpur
The German School of Kuala Lumpur (DSKL) is a German School Abroad supported by the German School Association Malaysia (DSM) and funded by the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA).
The school provides an education based on the German education system. It includes a kindergarten (from 2.5 years of age) and grades 1-12 with all German school-leaving qualifications, including the German International Abitur (DiA).
LOCATION / CAMPUS
The German School Kuala Lumpur is located in Petaling Java, southwest of Kuala Lumpur.
CURRICULUM / AGES (GRADES)
The school offers 12 years of education leading to the German “Abitur” (A-Level):
The Primary School comprises four years (Year 1 to Year 4), followed by the one-year Orientation Stage (Year 5).
The Secondary Level I (Year 6 to 9) and the Introductory Stage (Year 10). Students of Grade 10 take part in the final examination of lower secondary education and acquire the O-Level certificate and/or the entry qualification to the upper secondary level.
Upper Secondary Level (Years 11 and 12) leads to the German International Abitur (DIA).
LANGUAGES
Language of Instruction: German.
Extra Languages: English and French.
Language Support: Students whose first language is not German attend German as a Foreign Language lessons for three hours per week. These lessons are taught in small learning groups. The students also engage in language immersion programs twice a week in afternoon sessions.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The school offers extensive extracurricular activities such as Student Band, Art Attack, Football, Badminton, Pottery, Board Games, Cooking & Baking, Volleyball, Drama, and DSKL Elite Athletes.
