INTRODUCTION TO German School of Madrid
The German School of Madrid or Deutsche Schule Madrid (DSM) is a private inclusive international school in Madrid. DSM offers the German curriculum for students age 3 to 18 years old.
LOCATION / CAMPUS
Since 2015 the German School of Madrid moved to Montecarmelo. It is a residential area in the Fuencarral-El Pardo district of the city of Madrid (Spain) that was built at the beginning of the 21st century. It is located west of the M-607 motorway and south of the M-40 ring road.
CURRICULUM / AGES (GRADES)
Kindergarten includes a three-course nursery school for children from 3 to 6 years old. Its content is governed by the German early childhood education system, and it prepares children for school with German as their first language.
Primary School or Grundshule includes 16 classes in 4 lines (classes from Grade 1 to Grade 4) and follows the German school curriculum, which is complemented by the Spanish Language and Social Sciences classes required by the Community of Madrid for foreign schools.
Secondary School, where students, after a year of orientation in Grade 5, will follow Gymnasium, Hauptschule or Realschule depending on their academic performance, abilities and strengths, according to the German teaching plan.
After the Hauptschule or Realschule in Grade 9 or Grade 10 respectively, students receive a certificate recognized by the Permanent Conference of Ministers of Education of the Federal Republic of Germany. This certification allows access to vocational schools.
At the end of Grade 12 of the Gymnasium, the Abitur is performed. This final qualification is recognized both in Germany and in Spain and allows you to study at universities not only in Spain and Germany, but throughout Europe.
