Hout Bay International School (HBIS) opened its doors as a school in 1999 and gained independence as the Hout Bay International School in October 2002. HBIS is located in Hout Bay, one of the prime residential and holiday destinations in Cape Town.
International Education Systems (IES) is one of the few international organisations in the world to offer a structured programme of studies from Early Childhood Education (pre-school) through to University level studies.
IES schools are closely linked to the SEK-International Institution, a network of schools and universities in Latin America and Spain. The schools are members of The International Schools Association (ISA), offer, where appropriate, qualifications awarded by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB), and locally are members of major school associations such as the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (USA), the Independent Schools Association (UK), the Independent Association of Prep Schools (UK), and the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA).
Hout Bay International School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme for students aged 3 to 19, from kindergarten to pre-university.
Hout Bay International School is also an authorized Cambridge International Examinations Centre for IGCSE. The IGCSE programme is considered to be the best academic preparation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). At HBIS the content of the IGCSE is taught with the approaches to learning of the IBDP.
