INTRODUCTION TO Marlborough College Malaysia
Established in 2012, Marlborough College Malaysia (MCM) is a fully coeducational and independent British boarding and day school in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia. The school provides a British-based curriculum for pupils aged 3 to 18, including the International GCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
LOCATION / CAMPUS
Marlborough College Malaysia is situated in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia, around 12 miles from Johor Bahru. The campus is on a ninety-acre estate with an organic farm, golf driving, and a lake for water sports.
The College can be reached by road from Singapore via The Second Link, Tuas (20 kilometers), or the Woodlands Crossing (17 kilometers). Our closest airports are Senai (Malaysia), which is around a 30-minute drive, and Changi (Singapore), which is just over an hour away. Journey times to Singapore can increase if the border is congested.
CURRICULUM / AGES (GRADES)
Marlborough College Malaysia’s curriculum follows the British National Curriculum and schemes of work are reviewed annually. The school is structured into Preparatory School and Senior School.
Preparatory School
Pre-Prep, which consists of Reception to Year 2 (ages 4/5 to 6/7): Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1
Lower Prep, which consists of Years 3 and 4 (ages 7/8 and 8/9): Lower Key Stage 2
Upper Prep consists of Years 5, 6 and 7 (ages 9/10, 10/11 and 11/12) in preparation for entry to the Senior School: Upper Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
Senior School
Shell (Year 9, age 13-14), where pupils start their preparatory work to begin their IGCSE studies in Remove.
Key Stage 4 (Remove and Hundred, Years 10 and 11, ages 14-16), while students work towards the externally assessed examinations of IGCSE.
International Baccalaureate (Sixth Form, years 12 and 13, ages 16-18), offered at Marlborough College Malaysia, began in 2014. Students in Sixth Form also have lessons on Saturday mornings to meet the demands of the IB curriculum.

Language of Instruction: English.
Extra Languages: Mandarin Chinese, Bahasa Malay, French or Spanish.
Language Support: Extra support in English in the form of EAL (English as an Additional Language) lessons is offered for some students. Additional charges apply for EAL lessons.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Marlborough College Malaysia encourages students to engage in co-curricular activities outside the classroom. It offers a broad range of activities in Sports (Athletic Development, Badminton, Basketball, Climbing, Cricket, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Rigby, Swimming, Tennis and Tough Rugby), Music (Piano, Cello, Flute, Vocal, Drums, Clarinet, Violin, Saxophone and Guitar), Art and Drama.

Admission criteria: Marlborough College Malaysia is an academically selective school for both the Boarding and Day Schools. However, they don’t limit the selection to academic criteria alone. Additionally, as a British international school, all applicants are expected to have good working knowledge and conversational use of appropriate English for their age.

LEARNING SUPPORT
The Learning Enrichment (LE) Department at Marlborough College Malaysia works collaboratively with classroom teachers to support the needs of students. Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, elements of ADHD, and Speech and Language issues, among other difficulties, are catered for through additional lessons.
