INTRODUCTION TO Sunway International School – Iskandar Puteri

Sunway International School – Iskandar Puteri is one of the Sunway International Schools in Malaysia.  The school offers the entire K-12 curriculum for students from 4 to 18 years of age and combines Canadian and International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes.

The Ontario and IB curricula are similar in many ways. They share similarities in educational philosophies, approaches to teaching and assessments, and holistic views of student development. Ontario’s emphasis on the 6Cs (critical thinking, creativity and innovation, collaboration, communication, character (self-directed learning), and citizenship) parallels IB’s 10 Learner Profile attributes.

LOCATION / CAMPUS

Sunway International School – Iskandar Puteri is situated in a 7-acre school campus within the heart of Iskandar Puteri in Medini, Johor. It is located in the central southern development corridor in Johor, south of Malaysia, near major towns such as Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, and Singapore. It is easily accessible via major highways.

CURRICULUM / AGES (GRADES)

Sunway International School – Iskandar Puteri offers the the following programs:

Kindergarten Programme

The Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) programme is based on the Canadian (Ontario) full day kindergarten model (Canada’s Ontario Full Day Kindergarten (FDK)) and caters to students aged 4 to 5 years old.

Ontario Primary Programme

The Canadian (Ontario) curriculum continues in SIS’s Primary School (Grades 1 to 5).

Secondary Programme and Pre-university Programme

Students in Grades 6 to 10 (aged 11 to 15) at SIS Iskandar Puteri progress into the IB Middle Year Programme (IB MYP) and continue to Grades 11 and 12 with either the IB Career-related Programme (CP) or Diploma Programme (DP).

The MYP also allows students to progress into other international pre-university programmes like the Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT), Cambridge A Level, and international universities’ foundation programmes.
