INTRODUCTION TO The Academy International School

The Academy International School – Junior Campus is an international school in Mallorca for children aged 2 to 12. The school has two locations: the Junior School, which follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales and the Secondary Campus, where students can continue their education up to the IGCSE examination level and complete this with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

LOCATION / CAMPUS

The Academy International School – Junior Campus is located in Marratxí. Marratxí is a small municipality 15-minute drive from Palma, the principal city and seaport of Mallorca.

The Junior Campus offers several sports facilities such as football-t Astroturf, tennis court, horse riding area, swimming pool and sports hall, and equipped classrooms for IT, art, music and science.

CURRICULUM / AGES (GRADES)

The Academy International School – Junior Campus includes:

Nursery (for children under three years of age).

Early Years Foundation Stage (including Reception 1 and Reception 2). The curriculum is based on the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, whose four guiding principles are A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments, and Learning and Development.

Junior School (made up of Key Stage 1 – Year 1 and 2, and Key Stage 2 – Year 3 to 6). The curriculum is based on the British System.

LANGUAGES

Language of Instruction: English.

Extra Languages: Spanish, Catalan, French and German.

Language Support: The school offers supplementary English as Additional Language courses.

Admission criteria: The Academy is non-selective in the Early Years and Primary School admissions.
